The switch from seeds to extruded pellets may not seem like an easy task for many, although it is quite easy for birds of all ages to switch. However, switching to extruded pellets is worth it for the health and well-being of your parrots & parakeets. Most vets recommend a pellet-based diet to keep your parrot busy, promote a strong immune system, and boost overall health.

SHOULD I FEED MY BIRD SEEDS OR PELLETS?

Avian vets tell us that most of their patients are malnourished. The majority of these birds have received seeds for most of their lives. Owners say, "I just can't get my bird to eat pellets." Or, "My bird refuses to eat vegetables."

Sound familiar?

The problem is that seeds are high in fat and low in nutrients. They are particularly low in amino acids, vitamins and essential minerals as well as omega fatty acids. These are essential nutrients that help the body and brain function properly.

Transitioning your parrot from seeds to a healthy pellet-based diet takes patience, but it's the best decision you can make to improve your bird's health and emotional state in the long term.
